Flyer & Brochure Assignments

Flyer & Brochure Assignments For this assignment, you are to design one flyer and one brochure. Your flyer will advertise an event that occurs at John Jay College (real or imagined (but viable)), and the brochure will inform the John Jay community about a student program, organization, or service that exists (or should exist) at the college. Your event flyer should advertise lecture, event, or other activity that will occur at John Jay. If you belong to a student group, your flyer could let viewers know about the event it will sponsor. You can make up an event, but it should appear as something could actually occur on this campus with this student body at this particular moment. Once a student proposed a lingerie fashion show at John Jay which, seems like an unlikely event to occur in this academic environment. Below I’ve attached the type of flyers that I don’t want with an explanation and then some successful student flyer submissions. Even Flyer Examples with Explanations: If you do not how to use any desktop publishing program, Powerpoint will serve you sufficiently in creating posters and brochures. Do not try to produce these documents in Microsoft Word! You will need to play with the program to figure out how to upload images, change fonts, choose colors, layer images, make images transparent, and navigate other design possibilities in Powerpoint. You may also use a free online program called . As you can tell with the flyer examples I’ve offered, I do not want to see a poster that simply types some words into a document, centers the copy, and adds some images randomly around the words. This strategy of poster design does not actually represent any type of actual design thinking; it simply centers and adds an image. You should create your own images using images of the campus from the web Once you have designed the two (2) pages for both sides of your brochure, print them out, place them back to back, and fold them as you would a tri-fold brochure. You can then tell if you have accurately placed all of the information in the appropriate panel and if all of your information fits properly in those panels. Make a separate for both, flyer and brochure. DO NOT have them on 1 file
